Mandatory training for new volunteers for the North Valley Animal Disaster Group is scheduled for the weekend of January 24-25 in Chico.

The group springs into action during disasters like wildfires, to travel past the firelines to rescue and shelter animals when their owners can't get to them.

The training will begin promptly at 9 a.m. at the Butte County Search and Rescue training facility at 3898 Morrow Lane in south Chico, near the former Tile City building.

New volunteers are asked to download the application packet and handouts ahead of time. Returning volunteers are required to attend either the 16 hour weekend training, or just a 3 hour "update" on the evening of Monday, January 26th from 6 - 9 p.m.
