The Anderson Fire Protection District welcomed their new chief Monday evening with a badge-pinning ceremony.

Chief Rick Weigele was sworn in with his family by his side. His son, a fireman from Arizona, pinned his badge during the ceremony.

Weigele is a California native who most recently comes from Gilbert, Arizona. "It's kind of a dream for me, I can be a part of taking this department to the next level" Weigele said.

Weigele served as battalion chief in Gilbert, he was also a member of the "hotshots" and a public information officer throughout his 30-year career as a firefighter.
