The Shasta County woman charged in the death of a young Redding mother will be held in custody until she faces trial, a Shasta County judge announced today.
53-year-old Virginia Anderson has been charged with second-degree murder and DUI causing bodily injury, but during today's preliminary hearing the judge said he doesn't think there is sufficient evidence to support the second-degree murder charge.
26-year-old Hayley Riggins was pulled off of life support after colliding with Anderson's vehicle on April 24.
Police say Anderson was under the influence of methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription drugs when she ran a red light at the intersection of Placer and Buena Ventura.
