Anderson police Monday visited several homeless encampments along Interstate 5 near North Street, the Pleasant Hills Drive Subdivision and Balls Ferry Road in an effort to address community concerns about the regarding the health and safety of the encampments.
Officers cited five people, two of whom were transported to the Shasta County jail for warrants.
The sweep comes in response to public complaints and concerns about the health and safety of Anderson homeless encampments.
According to police, during Monday's visits officers' encountered multitudes of trash, debris, dangerous drug paraphernalia and unsanitary living conditions.
