Anderson police say they uncovered a butane honey oil lab inside a man's car during a traffic stop Monday night.

Just before 11 p.m. Monday an officer stopped 18-year-old Zachary Thornton for driving on the wrong side of the road on North Street near Ventura Street in Anderson.

During the traffic stop the officer said he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the car and Thornton admitted to having marijuana paraphernalia.

Officers proceeded to search Thornton's car and uncovered 313 grams of marijuana, 12 canisters of butane, and butane honey oil manufacturing equipment, according to a press release from the Anderson Police Department.

Thornton eventually admitted to making butane honey oil, but told officers he typically did so in a field, not in the car.

Thornton was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on felony transportation of marijuana and felony possession of a chemical lab.
