Anderson Police arrested a man who was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine and trying to force his way into a home Monday night.
Police were called to the home a little after 10 p.m. Monday and found 36-year-old Charles Durand running into the street. Durand was ordered to stand down and complied, but as the officer tried to handcuff him, he began to resist arrest.
A man driving by stopped and helped the officer subdue Durand.
Police determined Durand was likely under the influence of methamphetamine and during an investigation they learned he had kicked the front door of the home nearly 50 times.
The victim told police he had armed himself with handgun while Durand kicked in the door, but was able to refrain from firing any shots.
Durand was booked into the Shasta County Jail on two felony charges.
