Anderson man arrested for alleged motorcycle theft

Anderson Police arrested a man Monday morning after they matched orange paint found on his hands to the paint on a recovered stolen motorcycle.

Police received reports of a stolen motorcycle on the 3300 block of Silver Street in Anderson at 9:21 a.m. Monday, Investigators received a tip from a person who reported seeing a motorcycle being pushed down School Street around 3 a.m.

According to an Anderson Police Department press release a subsequent search of the area led officers to a home on School Street, where they received permission to search the backyard. During the search the stolen motorcycle was found beneath a tent.

The motorcycle had been painted orange, and investigators found the paint matched orange paint on one of the home's resident's hands. The resident 20-year-old Nolan Lewis was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for felony violation of receiving stolen property.
