Anderson residents will soon be paying more for their water after the Anderson City Council approved a five percent increase Tuesday night.

The Redding Record Searchlight reports that water rates will increase by 5 percent on December 1, 2014 and then by another 5 percent in December 2015.

Customers can expect to see a 56 percent increase in rates the first year and then a 59 cent increase the second year.

The funds generated by the increased rates will go towards covering shortfalls in the cities operational budget.
