An alert business owner interrupts an attempted burglary in Anderson, and the suspect is now in jail this morning.
Police say last night around 9:50 p.m., 27-year-old Cody Jenkins was attempting to break into a vehicle in the 1900 block of Riverside Avenue when a business owner caught him.
The owner and his dog chased Jenkins but eventually lost him when he jumped over a fence.
Police found the suspect a few minutes later walking westbound on Riverside Avenue.
The business owner identified Jenkins and he was then booked into the Shasta County jail for vandalism, vehicle tampering, and public intoxication.
During the investigation, police learned that Jenkins had smashed the window and broke into at least two vehicles at the same location.
