Amtrak Suspends Norcal Service Until Tracks and Bridges Can Be Inspected for Quake Damage

All Amtrak service along the Bay Area is temporarily suspended due to Sunday morning's earthquake in the Napa County area. One of the trains has had to stop in Chico, which is blocking some at-grade crossings such as the 5th Street crossing.

Capitol Corridor trains, 720, 723,724, 727, 728, 733 and 734 and San Joaquin trains 712 and 713 have been cancelled. Amtrak is also delaying the Coast Starlight and California Zepher trains until tracks have been inspected and cleared for travel.

The host railroads where these trains operate are working to inspect the tracks and bridges. But Amtrak say there is no estimate on when full service will be restored.
