The Willows Police Department is investigating an alleged sexual assault at Willows High School involving two students.
Willows' assistant principal is handling the case on the school side. Action News Now spoke with him this afternoon about the serious and sensitive nature of the case.
Action News Now also spoke with Willows Police Chief Jason Dahl earlier today, who said this allegedly happened last week on the school's campus, but was reported yesterday.
The alleged suspect is a 16-year-old male and the alleged victim is a 15-year-old female.
The suspect is not in custody and the Willows Police Department is still investigating. The school is also conducting an investigation, and its assistant principal said parents nor students have been officially notified.
“When an allegation is made, we want to make sure before we blow it up that we have some information, and make sure it is true,” Assistant Principal Ron Bazan said. “Because we want to be fair to both parties.”
Bazan would not say whether the two juveniles involved knew each other, or any other specific details of the case. He did say that allegations of sexual assault, or any allegations for that matter, are extremely serious. Action News Now will continue to keep tabs on the investigation.
