All School Carnival draws a big crowd in Corning

Even a brief power outage didn't dampen the fun at the Corning Union School District 2014 Carnival last night.

It drew students and parents from all of the city's schools. The Corning High School Band performed, and so did a dancing horse.

The carnival had games and food, and included plenty of prizes. Among the raffle prizes ... two XBOX 360 console packages donated by Walmart and 4 new bikes donated by Rolling Hills Casino. The Casino also donated $3,000 which allowed the district to buy a new popcorn machine, cotton candy machine and snow cone machine, as well as to cover costs associated with the carnival.

The event is a fundraiser to support school programs that would otherwise be due to budget issues.

The power went out for a half hour to 45 minutes ... meaning the bounce houses and some of the food vending machines didn't work ... but it gave some of the volunteers a much needed break and there were plenty of other activities to keep carnival-goers entertained.
