(UPDATE) 3:38 p.m.- Cal Fire has just confirmed that all 11 fires north of Oroville have been contained. The largest fire was reported at 12 acres near Pentz Road. Hwy 70 between Clark and Pentz Road remains closed at this time, but is expected to reopen sometime around 5 p.m. this evening. Officials at the scene speculate the fires may have been caused by a car with mechanical problems traveling through area. The vehicle in question has yet to be located.

Cal Fire has just confirmed the number of fires in the area has increased to 11, the largest of which is approximately five acres near Pentz Road. Six of the eleven fires are contained. CHP has closed SR 70 in both directions between Clark and Pentz Roads.
Cal Fire has responded to seven small fires which broke out between Garden Drive and Pentz Road along Hwy 70 near Oroville. The fires were first reported by CHP around 1:45 p.m. Most of the fires are about one acre in size with the largest estimated at three acres. Cal Fire quickly responded with several engines as well as aircraft. There are currently no road closures or evacuation orders. Stay posted for more details.
