Five North State businesses are facing fines after the state's department of Alcohol Beverage Control conducted sting operations designed to catch individuals and businesses that provide minors with alcohol.

In Chico, gas station clerks at the Shell Gas Station, 952 Nord Ave., Chevron Gas Station, 1025 Nord Ave., and Anthony's Liquor, 2101 The Esplanade, were cited for selling alcohol to minors on Tuesday.

In addition to the three clerks cited, one adult was cited for purchasing alcohol for minors in Chico.

On Wednesday ABC agents took their operation to Redding where police say an underage decoy working with police purchased alcohol at the Chevron station, 1750 Pleasant St., and the Parkview Market, 843 Parkview Ave.

Those who sold to minors face a minimum fine of $250, and 24 to 32 hours of community service for a first violation. In addition, ABC will take administrative action against the alcoholic beverage license of the business where alcohol was sold to a minor. That may include a fine, a suspension or the permanent revocation of the license.
