In yesterday's Glenn County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board voted 3-2 in approval of an ordinance banning the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages along specified portions of the Sacramento River during the Labor Day Holiday weekend.
Most who spoke during the discussion of the proposal were largely in favor of it, including Byron Denton of Orland, Glenn County Sheriff Jones, and Dan James of the Hamilton City Fire Department. Only Kevin Flannery, a Willows resident, spoke in opposition of the ordinance.

Notifications of the ordinance's passage will be published in local newspapers within the next 15 days, and the ordinance will go into effect on May 15th. The ban will last one year and will be re-evaluated after the Labor Day Holiday this year.
