The California Highway Patrol stated today alcohol may have been a factor in a crash which killed one woman and sent the male passenger to the hospital on State Route 3 in Trinity County.
Around 9:45 p.m. last night Jennifer Williamson and Damion Emery, both aged 38 from Trinity Center, were driving south on SR 3 when Williamson lost control of her 1997 Acura, slid through the northbound lane, drove off the east roadway and down nearly 200 feet of rock-covered hillside. According to CHP, the Acura rolled several times and Williamson was ejected from the car because she was not wearing a seatbelt.
Williamson was found dead at the scene of the crash, but Emery was able to climb out of the car and up the hillside to wait for emergency personnel to arrive. He was later transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
CHP’s investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
