OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Alexis Osorio threw a complete game and struck out nine to help Alabama defeat Oregon 2-1 on Saturday in a Women's College World Series elimination game.
Osorio, a freshman, gave up three hits. She struck out all three batters in the sixth inning and struck out the final two in the seventh to clinch the win. Osorio (22-9) recovered from a tough outing in a 5-0 loss to Michigan on Thursday.
Chandler Dare's single in the second inning scored two for Alabama's only runs. The Crimson Tide (48-14) will play LSU in an elimination game Saturday night.
Ducks pitcher Cheridan Hawkins, who entered the tournament with a 30-3 record, lost for the second straight game. Janie Takeda's RBI single in the third inning produced the only run for Oregon (51-8).
