Chico police say a juvenile with an air soft gun prompted school officials at Marsh Junior High School and Little Chico Creek Elementary to lockdown campus Monday morning.

The lockdown was ordered around 10 a.m. after a person reported seeing an armed juvenile riding a skateboard near the Chico Bike Path.

Police conducted an extensive search of both campuses, as well as the surrounding area and decided to lift the lockdown at 10:15 a.m.

Initial reports say three juveniles were riding skateboards in the area, and one had a handgun on his waistband.

After searching the area Chico police recieved a tip leading them to an apartment on Hartford Drive where they detained and questioned five juveniles, one of whom had an airsoft gun.

The reporting party was not able to positvely identify the suspect(s) so no arrests were made and the juveniles were turned over to their parents.
