PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Investigators have returned to an apartment house near the University of Southern Maine where an intense blaze killed five people and critically injured another.

It could take them several days to figure out the cause of Maine's deadlines fire in three decades.

The fire Saturday morning followed a Halloween party the night before. Authorities said most "if not all" of the residents in the two apartments were students at the quiet commuter campus. But they also said there was no indication that students were killed.

At first, several people were said to be unaccounted for; police didn't know if they left before the fire erupted. Later, authorities said nobody was missing.

One victim was treated and released from a hospital and seven people escaped.
