Accident closes Highway 70 north of Marysville

The California Highway Patrol is reporting that Highway 70 is closed north of Marysville, at Magnolia Road after a Ford F-150 collided with a big rig Tuesday morning.

According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information page the pickup tried to make a pass and was hit by a semi that was making a turn just before 9:40 a.m.

The vehicle reportedly caught fire directly underneath power pole.

All southbound traffic is being diverted to Ramirez Road, northbound traffic is being diverted to Woodruff Road. PG&E crews are headed to the scene to make power pole repairs.

The driver of the big rig did not suffer any injuries, but according to CHP officials three children who were in the pickup suffered minor to moderate injuires.

Highway 70 will not be reopened to traffic until at least 4:00 p.m.

PG&E crews are working to restore power to about 220 customers in the area and repair damages to approximately 15-20 power poles.
