A 3-month-old Bengali-Siberian tiger is recovering after being found roaming the streets in Southern California, and a search is on to find who abandoned the big cat.

The 25-pound cub will need surgery to remove a hernia, but is otherwise in good health. Officials say it's against the law for anyone to keep the tiger as a pet or for something else.

Animal control officers in San Jacinto transferred the cub to a sanctuary, which is licensed to handle and treat exotic animals.

The sanctuary currently houses eight adult tigers.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife have yet to determine where the cute cub ultimately ends up.
