AAUW of Oroville hosts Womens History Month Luncheon

The Oroville branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is hosting a Women's History Month Tea and Salad Luncheon to raise money for it's "Tech Trek" program.

The Luncheon will take place at Noon on Saturday, March 12th at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2350 Foothill Blvd, in Oroville. Tea will be served, as well as scones, a selection of more than a dozen salads and dessert.

The program will feature speaker Eileen Burke-Trent who will be using materials from the 2016 Women's History Project. The theme this year is "Women Who Have Shaped America's History Through Public service and Government Leadership." Burk-Trent was the 2011-2013 League of Women Voters' National Ruth s. The annual event is a fundraiser for "Tech Trek", a state AAUW project that sends girls heading into 8th grade to a week-long summer Science and Math Camp at one of eight universities. The get a feel for dorm life and attend classes in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. They also have the opportunity to meet women with successful careers in those professions. The Oroville AAUW hopes to sponsor five girls for the camp that's held at UC Davis.
