AAUW and Butte College offer Career Trek for Girls

The Butte County branches of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) are teaming up with Butte Community College to host a Career Trek for 8th grade girls focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Careers.

Presenters will offer workshops involving many professions, including Anthropologist, Geologist, Botanist, Nutritionist, Computer Scientist, Civil Engineer, Accountant, Nurse, Physical Therapist, Lab Technician and Veterinarian, among others.

Career Trek takes place on Saturday February 6th, on the Butte College main campus. Registration is from 8:30 - 9 a.m. The day will feature 45 minute presentations by professional women who are working in STEM careers. The presentations begin at 9:40 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. More presentations and a campus tour will take place after noon. The event concludes at 3 p.m.

Parents are welcome to attend. The cost is $5 per student and $5 per parent. Scholarships are available through AAUW for any student with a financial need. Some branches also offer rides. Students should indicate either need on the registration form.
