A Chico Man Arrested After Trying To Cash A Stolen Check

A Chico man is arrested after allegedly stealing a car and cashing several stolen checks.

According to the Chico Police, the reporting party reported a vehicle burglary at the city parking structure located on the 300 block of Main Street.

The caller reported just after 5:23 a.m. that sometime during the night, a suspect broke out a window of the victim’s 2005 Subaru and several checks were stolen from the victim’s vehicle.

Chico Police Officers were called to California Check Cashers on Mangrove Avenue at 11:30 a.m. regarding a person who was trying to cash a check which had been stolen during the burglary.

Officers arrested Justin Nelson, 23 who was in possession of one of the stolen checks which had been stolen during the burglary.

Nelson was booked into the Butte County Jail.
