Fifty-eight kindergarten classrooms from across Shasta County were given the chance to learn about the wide variety of careers that will be available to them as they get older.
The 9th Annual ‘Kinder College Day' was held at Simpson University Friday morning. The goal of the event is to introduce the idea of college and career opportunities early in the kids' lives.
Event Coordinator Amanda Harter told Action News Now that it's never too early to start thinking about your options. "If you can get kids excited about what they want to do in their future, it can help them be more engaged with their studies now."
More than 48 organizations made presentations to the kids including CAL FIRE, the California Highway Patrol, California Conservation Corps, and the Redding Fire Department. The kids even learned a little about the television business when Action News Now Photographer Chris Woodward told them about the exciting TV news business.
The event lasted until noon, and was brought together by groups including "College OPTIONS," "The Shasta Early Literacy Program," and "Simpson University."
