Today the 8th Annual Relay for Life kicked off in Paradise. The event raises money and awareness for the American Cancer Society.
One remarkable woman shared her story with us. Maria Slater, a two time cancer survivor beamed with pride as she took part in the "Survivor Lap." Shortly after she told us about her journey.
Years after winning her battle with stomach cancer, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. A lifesaving mastectomy is the reason she is with us today.
Her positive outlook on life is beyond inspirational. After describing the invasive surgeries she had to undergo, Maria said the experience made her realize what's important in life. She also shared that she plans on living to be 105.
