FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Fresno residents should be able to download a free app measuring daily water use by the time the five boys who came up with the idea head back to school in the fall.
The Fresno Bee reports five Riverview Elementary School students presented their idea to officials at Fresno City Hall in March. Since then, the Fresno Chamber of Commerce and businesses including AT&T have donated the $51,000 needed to develop the app.
Bitwise Industries approved the group's project after the boys gave a formal pitch Wednesday. The students will spend this summer break with coders producing their app.
Students Noah Arsitio, Corben Beaty, Jeffrey Forbes, Evan Murai and Daniel Shin say they hope daily updates on individual water use will help Californian's reduce consumption.
