The Shortz! Film Festival returns to Chico for a fourth year September 12th through the 14th at the Historic El Rey Theater.
The annual international short film festival showcases the best and brightest short films from around the globe. The festival accepts and screens short films with running times of 40 minutes or less in any genre.
It was created in 2011 by local filmmakers, with the goal of networking and producing more films ... as well as being able to showcase works to a large audience.
There are prizes awarded for some categories, and many of the filmmakers will be in attendance. This year there is a special program section for student filmmakers, as a way of supporting and encouraging the next generation.
The coordinators last year also launched a Shortz! Film Festival Roku channel that is automatically available to all of its screening films at no extra cost, to give filmmakers a year round internet screening platform, with more than 18,000 subscribers from around the globe.
Tickets to the Festival are $10 per night, or $20 for an all festival pass. They're available at the door or online at ChicoTix.com.
