The 4th Annual Chico Silent Film Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, March 14th and 15th, at the Chico Women's Club.

It's a benefit for Friends of the Arts Upstate, and will feature a variety of movies from Noon to 9:30 p.m. each day.

Saturday's features include the Original" Peter Pan" from 1924, and The Mark of Zorro with Douglas Fairbanks ... among others. On Sunday there are different movies, including "Steamboat Bill, Jr." featuring Buster Keaton, "Angora Love" with Laurel & Hardy and "Wings: an Epic of the Air" ... the first large-scale aviation film.

Festival Coordinator Debra Lucero, with Friends of the Arts Upstate, says it's all possible due to two extremely talented artists. David shepard, from Siskiyou County, who is internationally acclaimed in film circles. Shepard has spent the major part of his career restoring early cinema for DVD and video editions. He will provide background information on the chosen films. And, Frederick Hodges, a virtuoso hailed by the press as one of the best ragtime pianists in the world. His music will accompany each film.

An All Festival Pass is $25. Otherwise, Tickets for individual films are$10 for Adults, $2 for Children, and 12 and under are Free. For tickets and information you can call (530) 228-2860 or visit www.friendsoftheartsupstate.org.
