42 customers remain without power in downtown Chico

(UPDATE) 11:05 a.m.- A PG&E Representative has stated a damaged underground cable caused the power outage in the downtown Chico area first reported at 8:07 a.m. this morning.

PG&E Crews are continuing to work on repairing the cable near 4th and Wall Streets in order to restore power to 42 customers. The representative stated power should be restored to those customers around 7 p.m. tonight.

PG&E is still assessing was caused the damage to the cable.

(UPDATE) 10:43 a.m.- Power has been restored to all but one customer in the downtown Chico area, according to PG&E's outage map. No official word yet from PG&E on what may have caused the outage.

(UPDATE) 9:55 a.m.- Power continues to fluctuate at this hour as power has been restored to all but about 90 customers in the downtown Chico area at this time.

According to PG&E’s outage map, the outage is centered between East 4th and 3rd Streets in downtown Chico and possibly extends as far east as Flume Street.

PG&E has still not indicated what may be causing the loss of power in the area.

(UPDATE) 9:40 a.m.- PG&E’s outage map now indicates an additional 1,184 customer have lost power within the last 25 minutes, bringing the new total to nearly 1,275 customers without power at this time. We have confirmed some campus building at Chico State are without power as well as the Immediate Care Center on Memorial Way. PG&E has yet to release the cause of the outages.

(UPDATE) 9:20 a.m. - Power has been restored to all but 91 customers in the Bidwell Mansion area. A PG&E representative has indicated some customers on Main Street, East 4th Street, and East 3rd Street still remain without power. The exact cause of the outage has yet to be determined.

A power outage this morning is affecting approximately 1366 customers in the area surrounding Bidwell Mansion in Chico.

According to PG&E’s power outage map, the outage extends from East 4th Avenue to almost East 7th Street in South Chico.

We are awaiting more information from PG&E into what caused the outage and when power is expected to be restored. Check back in for updates.
