PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Authorities in Maine have updated the death toll to four in a fire that swept through a two-apartment building that housed students from the University of Southern Maine.
State fire marshals' spokesman Steve McCausland says one person is in critical condition in the burn unit of a Boston hospital. He suffered severe burns and jumped from a second-story window.
Fire marshals are still trying to account for three or four others who were at a Halloween party at the house Friday night. It's not known if those missing stayed over or left during the night.
The fire was reported Saturday at 7:17 a.m.
McCausland says it's not known if the victims of the fire were students or guests of those who were renting the two apartments.
