31 St. Patrick's Day arrests in Chico

Chico police are reporting reduced activity across Chico during this year's St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

Police say the reduced activity is in part due to the fact that the holiday fell on a Tuesday this year, and Chico State was on Spring Break.

31 people were arrested Tuesday, 19 of which were for public intoxication.

In 2013 Chico police made 26 arrests on St. Patrick's Day and 33 in 2014.

Police say that while they've seen a decrease in St. Patrick's Day activity, they have seen the Cesar Chavez Day celebration grow significantly in recent years. Police say preparations for the March 31st festivities are already underway.
