31,000 pounds of trash pulled from homeless encampments

A clean-up project in Linden Canyon concluded Tuesday and officials say volunteers along with work release crews collected more than 30,000 pounds of trash from the area.

Shasta County work release crews conducted a preliminary sweep of the Linden Canyon area February 10 and 11, collecting more than 7,000 pounds of garbage.

On Sunday, 33 volunteers worked alongside them to clean up another 100 pounds of trash, and 500 pounds of bike parts and frames.

Over the past two days work release crews returned to finish the job and all in all a total of 31,500 pounds of garbage was collected.
