The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control has cited three Redding businesses, alleging they sold alcohol to minors.

On Thursday night officers with the Redding Police Department, along with agents from the California ABC conducted compliance checks around town.

During the operation a minor working with law enforcement entered businesses and attempted to buy alcohol.

The minor was able to purchase alcohol at The Chicken Shack at 2586 Churn Creek Road, Circle K at 1015 Hartnell Avenue and the Shell Station at 2998 Churn Creek Road.

The clerks who sold to the minor face a minimum fine of $250, and/or 24 to 32 hours of community service for a first violation. In addition, ABC will take administrative action against the alcoholic beverage license of the business where alcohol was sold to a minor.
