BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Investigators are trying to determine a motive for a shooting at a Bakersfield apartment that left three men dead and one wounded.
Kern County Sheriff's officials say multiple men in masks stormed the apartment on Wednesday night and opened fire before fleeing on foot. There were also children in the apartment, but they were not hurt.
Three men were killed. The other man was listed in serious, but stable condition on Thursday.
Sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt says investigators are still working to identify the suspects and determine the relationship, if any, between them and the victims.
He identified the three men who were slain as 29-year-old Zephaniah Lee Matthews, 23-year-old Junior Alfonzo Contreras and 22-year-old Daniel Turrel Watkins. All three were pronounced dead at Kern Medical Center.
