3 arrested on suspicion of running honey oil lab in Chico

Three Chico men, including a Chico State student, have been arrested on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance after drug agents uncovered a honey oil lab in their 5th street residence.

Detectives with the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant on the 1500 block of West 5th Street in Chico around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When detectives arrived, they found Butane Honey Oil manufacturing equipment in three rooms, and oil actively being produced in two of those.

Three men were living in the residence, they've been identified as Matthew Gregg, 26; Joseph Vanhorn, 30; and Chico State student Neacail Murdock, 29.

All three were booked into the Butte County Jail on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance.

According to a news release, the BINTF North Office has investigated 15 honey labs in the Chico area, two of which were brought to light after explosions.
