A campaign to collect holiday food for those in need kicked off today in Redding with a Turkey drive at 02 Staffing.
The drive ran from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and is part of the 3-2-1 Give campaign to benefit the Good News Rescue Mission in its goal of feeding a thousand needy families this holiday season.
Over 200 turkeys and over $1,000 in donations were taken at the Mistletoe Lane site Tuesday.
Organizers say it fills a huge need. Michelle Nystrom, Branch Manager at O2 Staffing says “our community has a huge need, in terms of people that just have a little bit harder time, especially around the holidays, and you know these are families, there are kids involved that we really want to make sure that they have that need provided for.”
The campaign consists of three events, two days and one goal, helping to provide meals to those in need on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If you missed today’s event you can check out the stuff the trunk event Thursday at Taylor Motors on the corner of Cypress and Churn Creek. There will also be a food drive being held at Prestige Urgent Care on Eureka Way. Both events start at 6 a.m. and will run all day.
