An attack with a 2x4 landed a Chico man behind bars Tuesday afternoon.
Chico police were called to a home on the corner of Magnolia Ave. and W. 8th Ave. around noon after a 36-year-old reportedly hit a former roommate in the head with a 2x4.
When they arrived, officers say they spotted David Swendeman sitting on the porch, but say he quickly ran inside and locked them out.
After interviewing the victim, officers learned that the alleged attack happened three hours earlier in the backyard of the home.
Officers then forced their way into the home where they found Swendeman locked in an upstairs bedroom.
The 36-year-old who had recently been evicted from the home was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
The victim in the case was treated for a minor head wound, but did not want to go to the hospital.
Officers say Swendeman had recently been evicted from the home, but they are still looking into the motive for the attack.
