Investigators say a Cottonwood man knew his son had a sexual relationship with an underage girl and failed to do anything about it.

On Thursday July 31 Shasta County Sheriff's Officials arrested 40-year-old Gordon Grissom for molesting a 16-year-old family member over a four year period. When interviewed by investigators Grissom reportedly told them it was likely that he had fathered the victim's 11-month-old child.

During follow up investigations detectives interviewed Gordon Grissom's father, and roommate 62-year-old Thomas Grissom.

Thomas Grissom told investigators he didn't know Gordon, was having a sexual relationship with the 16-year-old victim, but he admitted that Gordon told him he was the father of the victim's baby about two months ago.

According to a Shasta County Sheriff's Office press release, investigators determined Thomas Grissom allowed the victim to stay in a situation where she was subjected to continuous and arrested him for child endangerment.

Thomas Grissom was charged with child endangerment and booked into the Shasta County Jail Tuesday. He has since been released and will appear in court on October 24.
