2014 proved to be another strong year for home construction in Chico. With more than 200 new homes built in Chico in each of the last two years, city officials and even a few builders we spoke to say they expect to match those numbers this year. New neighborhoods are going up to meet the demand of buyers in the area.
Builder Jerry Tucker with Guillon Inc. is building a new neighborhood in North Chico called Wildwood Estates. He says last year was a good year for construction, right now there are 15 homes under construction in the new neighborhood, he says all of them but two are sold.
"The end of the year usually always slows down like December and January, and we have done really good December and January a lot of foot traffic a lot of people still looking which is a little unusual." says Builder Jerry Tucker.
In 2010 the City of Chico issued 60 single family home building permits and in 2014 there was a total of 202.
