Hundreds of racers tackle a 45-mile loop west of Corning in stage two of the 2014 Chico Stage Bike Race.
The stage, called the Paskenta Hills Road Race, was a challenging course with several rolling hills.
It was an absolute beautiful setting, but it was windy.
The highlight of the trek was a 4-mile stretch along the famous Paskenta gravel.
One rider explains just how tough that part of the race was.
"The gravel just adds an epic element to this course, and you got to have really good bike handling skills when you get on that, especially on a year when it's dry. In past years when the gravel is wet and hard packed, it's not so bad, but on a day like today you really get kind've fish taily in that gravel if you're trying to go fast, so you've got to have good bike handling skills when you hit that," said Dave Rossow.
The 2014 Chico Stage Race concludes Sunday in downtown Chico with the River Road Time Trial.
Hundreds of people are expected to attend.
