Downtown Chico will officially kick off the holiday season with the 36th Anniversary of Christmas Preview on Sunday, November 24th from 4 to 8 p.m.
This tradition in holiday hospitality celebrates the magic of the season. Downtown businesses debut their holiday cheer with beautiful decorations, special entertainment and delicious refreshments. Strolling carolers add a special charm to the downtown streets - performing this year are The Children's Choir of Chico, Sounds of the Valley and the Bidwell Generals. Plus, the "hardest working band in snow business," The Yule Logs will delight crowds on Main Street.
Arriving by horse-drawn carriage, Santa Claus will visit children at his station located on the corner of Third Street & Broadway from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Youngsters can stop by for a visit, a special gift and a photo opportunity.
The preview also launches the 2013 "Downtown Chico Hometown Holiday Hospitality Campaign."
"Greeters will wear bright red aprons on the streets distributing candy canes, downtown maps and directories, and commemorative holiday buttons. Fifty businesses have committed to staying open late every Friday through Christmas, and parking will be free on Fridays as well.
