2 rescued after single vehicle crash near Butte Creek Canyon

Emergency crews were called to perform a technical rescue after a truck ran off the road and crashed into Butte Creek early Wednesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 2 a.m. on Centerville Rd. Initial reports say the three people inside the truck got out of the vehicle and tried to flee the scene, but two of the three ended up injured and needed rescue.

Butte County Search and Rescue, Cal Fire Butte County and the Chico Fire Department, pulled one person from the creek with a leg injury, another was able to walk across to safety. The third person involved has not been located.

CHP officials are conducting an investigation and have not released any information as to why the three people tried to flee the scene.
