Another drug bust netted Redding Police’s Neighborhood Unit a meth dealer and his girlfriend at a local motel in Redding Thursday afternoon.

Richard Anthony Garitty, 45 years, and his girlfriend, Tearney Alicyn Lemon, 20 years, were both detained at the Ponderosa Inn on the 2200 block of Pine Street.

Both Garitty and Lemon had been living at the hotel for a long time, according to motel managers and police.

Investigators approached the motel and knocked on the door. As Garitty attempted to delay the police from entering the room, investigators said Lemon tried to flee into the bathroom with more than one ounce of methamphetamine, which was seized in the bust.

A search of the motel room revealed scales, baggies, cash money and meth smoking devices.

Both Garitty and Lemon were arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sales, and maintaining a residence for the possession, use, and sales of controlled substances. Garitty was also charged with delaying and obstructing officers as well as violation of probation. Both were booked at Shasta County Jail.
