Two Washington men are in critical condition at the U.C Davis Burn Center after their suspected honey oil operation exploded in Mountain Gate Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance near Donnie Way and Ron Way, where they happened upon the remnants of a fire that appeared to be the result of a honey oil explosion.

Deputies learned that two men, Adam Kurdi, 24, and Christian Schollenberger, 25, had been burned in the fire, and were being treated at a local hospital. Both men have since been flown to U.C. Davis where they are in critical condition.

A subsequent search of the home revealed butane, marijuana extraction tubes, pyrex dishes, processed marijuana, and 44 growing plants.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.
