PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Peoria are investigating an early morning crash on a highway near Lake Pleasant that killed two people and left eight others critically injured.
Peoria police say at least three vehicles were involved in the accident when one was trying to pass another at a high rate of speed.
Police say two people were killed and eight others were rushed to area hospitals in critical condition. Several other people in the vehicles suffered less serious injuries.
Their identities had not yet been released, but authorities say the victims are in their late teens or early twenties.
Investigators were probing whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the early Saturday morning crash.
