An apparent honey oil lab explosion in Redding leveled an RV trailer and sent two people to the hospital with serious burns.
Redding firefighters were called to the 11000 block of Campers Court in the Redding RV Park around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
Alexander Basso,36, and Margaret Jeanne McGregor, 32, made it out of the trailer alive, but suffered severe burns. Officials say McGregor had burns to over 35 percent of her body, while Basso suffered burns to 84 percent of his body. Both were taken to Mercy Medical Center and then flown to the UC Davis Burn Center.
The explosion damaged a nearby truck and trailer, but no other injuries were reported.
The explosion is under investigation, but officials say the evidence suggest that the cause is honey oil manufacturing.
Earlier this month a honey oil explosion near Enterprise claimed the life of a Redding man, and badly burned four others. Shasta County Narcotics agents say they have investigated 21 butane honey oil labs in the last two years, a significant increase.
