Two people were arrested late Tuesday night after they led authorities on a high speed chase through Shasta County.

The pursuit began at the Chevron station on Shasta View Drive and Tarmac Road in Redding last night around 9:50 p.m. Police say 23-year-old Katie Girard was driving a stolen 2006 Mazda 6 recklessly in front of the store.

Officers attempted to pull the car over, but Girard continued southbound on Shasta View Drive.

Girard reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour as she continued to flee from police. The pursuit ended when the vehicle broke down in a field at the end of Fig Tree Lane.

Girard and her passenger, 33-year-old Robert Lopez were both taken into custody and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
