Start your weekend out with a great cultural event and come to the Bok Kai Festival in Downtown Marysville. The event honors the Chinese God of Water and remembers the Chinese who worked the Gold Mines in the 1800's. The historical tradition starts this Saturday morning at eleven with a parade, and lots of entertainment, food and vendors later in the day. Sunday, come watch the firing of the bombs at 2:00 p.m. The fireworks display will be free for the public to watch.
Need a break from reality? Come to the Chico Theater Company's performance of "Once Upon A Mattress," premiering this Friday. This musicial spoof of "The Princess and the Pea" is a performance that will have the whole family laughing. The fairy tale promises wonderful songs, dancing and of course some good humor. Shows are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. starting this weekend through March 28th.
It's not St. Patrick's Day yet, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some good Irish music! This Saturday come to the Arc Pavillion in Chico for the Grada Celtic Benefit Concert. The event starts at 6:30 and begins at 7:30 p.m. Money raised from the concert will help fund the Arc's Family Support Programs. Tickets cost twenty dollars.
If that's not enough music for you, come to the 5th Annual Chico State New Music Symposium. Performances will be Thursday through Saturday at the Rowland-Taylor Recital Hall at Chico State University.
