An 18-month-old child is in the hospital Monday morning, suffering head trama after being hit with a rock. Officers were sent to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Red Bluff after reports of the injured girl in the emergency room. The child's 21-year-old mother says that her daughter was playing with her 30-year-old boyfriend Saturday night and was inadvertently struck in the head with a rock by the boyfriend. She told officers that she does not believe it was intentional. The child was barely conscious when police arrived and needed help breathing. Hospital staff said the child would be flown to UC Davis for further treatment. The case is still under investigation.
